Aitor Ribes Verges (Henna) Aitor Ribes Verges was born on October 13, 1989. He became interested in the music world at the age of 13, calling himself Aitor Dj. He started out like most beginners, using the famous Atomix MP3 software, diving into the popular sounds of the era: Newstyle, Hardcore, and vocal melodies (“cantaditas”). At that time, he had to settle for mixing on his computer, occasionally playing at his friends’ houses who owned belt-drive turntables, where he was able to make his first mixes with vinyl. Slowly but surely, Hardcore tracks and vocal tunes began to disappear from his sessions, appearing less and less in his sets.
At 15, he got his first mixing desk, his first CDJ-800, and a pair of Sennheiser headphones; back then, he always had to borrow a second CDJ from a colleague to be able to play. At that age, he started landing gigs around local pubs in the Tarragona region. At 16, he acquired his second CDJ-800 and witnessed the new era of the CDJ-400. Around this time, he teamed up with Dj Adri Fr, Something Dj, and Dj Gim, securing a year-long residency at the Nitro room in Amposta, which was one of the best times of his life. From then on, he played at notable venues such as Pirámide (Cabanes), Masia (Segorbe)—where he ranked 4th in their DJ contest—, Órbita (San Mateo), Barcelona, among others.
It wasn’t until he turned 20 that he began producing his first Newstyle tracks using Ableton Live. Over the years, as circles naturally shift, his friendships changed and his new crowd was into a completely different vibe: techno! At the age of 21, he began exploring this new genre, and eventually, techno caught up with him, exceeding the hours of dedication he used to give to Newstyle. With his transition to techno, he adopted the moniker Dj Henna. Within six months of playing this style, he began performing at parties across his region, driving a non-stop summer of after-parties, private events, and club dates at venues like Elà stica (Gandesa) and Pirámide (Alcanar). His sets ranged between Techno, Minimal, and a harder, darker, high-quality Techno sound.
Currently, he DJs and produces both defining styles of his life, Newstyle and Techno, and is set to release his first techno track on Beatport under his new stage name, HENNA. His next goal is to purchase the full setup required to play techno, as he does not currently own a record collection.
