GUSTAVO LOPEZ

Techno

Gustavo López began his professional career as a DJ in 1986. In the late 1980s, he started organizing electronic parties in the western area of Greater Buenos Aires, where his refined musical selection—shaped by disco, techno, and house—quickly gained recognition. In 1993, he secured key residencies at Fellini’s after-hours and Club Caniche, firmly establishing himself within Buenos Aires’ nightlife scene. In 1994, he co-founded Urban Groove, a DJ collective deeply influenced by Chicago house and Detroit techno. The group made history in 1998 with Rave Sudamericana, an event that brought together over 20,000 people and received extensive national media coverage. Urban Groove also launched the after-hours Pantheon and K2, iconic venues of the local underground scene, hosting international artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Green Velvet, Danny Rampling, Ricardo Villalobos, and Daniel Bell, among many others. With Urban Groove, he released the albums 3 to 2000 (1997) and 2 to 2000 (1998) through Universal Music, and shared stages with legendary acts including The Prodigy and Kraftwerk. He also released the double LP Zero Zero City on the Strictly Rhythm label and produced the TV program Buenos Aires Dance Network, offering an inside look at Argentina’s dance music scene. In 2000, Gustavo López relocated to Barcelona, where he became an essential figure in the local house music circuit. Since 2002, he has produced music with his brother Junior López under the project Low Sound, releasing two albums on international labels. That same year, he began his residency at City Hall, one of the most influential underground clubs in Barcelona, sharing the booth with leading figures of the global electronic music scene. Today, Gustavo López remains active as a DJ, produces his own events, and teaches DJing to new generations.
