ROOM 1: MOOG

TERENCE FIXMER

Techno
Terence Fixmer, a luminary in France’s techno scene, has been a pivotal force in the genre for over two decades. Known for music that moves both the body and soul, Fixmer masterfully blends emotional depth with musical integrity. His journey began with the groundbreaking debut album Muscle Machine in 1999, under DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolos label, birthing the “Techno Body Music” style. Celebrated tracks like “Electrostatic” and “Body Pressure” have become techno classics. In 2002, Fixmer formed Fixmer/McCarthy with Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas McCarthy. Their album Fixmer McCarthy Between the Devil and electrifying live performances have made them icons in the Techno EBM scene. Their fusion of aggressive techno and sensual electronica set a new benchmark in the genre. Fixmer’s solo career is marked by versatility and innovation, with acclaimed releases on labels such as Electric De Luxe, Prologue, and CLR. His albums Comedy of Menace and Depth Charged showcase his ability to evolve while maintaining a unique sound. His 2015 entry into the Ostgut Ton family, marked by the reissue of Aktion Mekanik, expanded his influence. This, along with releases like the LP Through the Cortex, solidified his status in techno’s elite. Fixmer’s sound is in high demand, leading to remixes for Depeche Mode, Ellen Allien, and others. His collaboration with Thomas Cohen on tracks like “Braid” and “Chain of Love” for Mute Records reflects his wide-ranging impact. In 2022, Fixmer debuted on Mute Records with Shifting Signals, a testament to his enduring ability to transcend musical norms. His music, used by fashion brands like Prada, shows his influence beyond the music industry. Preparing for a second album in 2024, Terence Fixmer remains a driving force in techno. His commitment to experimental, boundary-pushing sounds cements his position as a visionary in the electronic music landscape, continuously redefining techno with each endeavor.
