After 30 years of fame as a DJ for his outstanding techno sessions with four vinyl decks, many don’t know that Cristian Varela is also a successful composer of soundtracks for film, theater and television. Being one of the most awarded artists on the electronic scene, he has gone so far as to record a symphonic album at the legendary Abbey Road studios in London. When it comes to Cristian Varela’s roots, longtime fans of the Techno genre will need little introduction for his seminal remixes by the likes of Ben Sims and Speedy J. Cristian Varela is recognized as one of Spain’s pioneering techno producers and promoters. In 2018 he relaunched his project “Black Codes Experiments”, a return to his roots with a series of concerts and vinyl-only releases with artists such as Regis, Mark Broom, Shufflemaster, Tensal, Abstract Division, Exium or Arnaud Le Texier, among others. . More than just a remix artist, Cristian Varela has released numerous solo EPs on labels ranging from Carl Cox’s Intec to his own Pornographic Recordings. A special documentary celebrating Cristian Varela’s 25-year musical career has also been released, featuring testimonials and comments from friends and colleagues such as Carl Cox, Chris Liebing and Joseph Capriati, as well as many others who have been instrumental in his career. . Now it is Cristian’s 30th anniversary in the industry and he has just released the song EIGHTH on one of the most prestigious Techno labels MORD owned by Bas Mooy and MATERIA with his brother Marco Bailey.
