Sylvie Maziarz
Most people are one thing. A producer, a DJ, a promoter, a label owner, an activist, a community inspirer. Sylvie Maziarz is one of those rare artists who combines it all.
It all started when she discovered production and DJ work as a hobby during a vacation. She gradually perfected her mix of high-octane rave beats, monotone drones and yet incorporating some quirky and upbeat vibes underneath it all. Thanks to her focus early on, her DJ career quickly took off and allowed her to perform in her homeland of Berlin, and in Spain, Belgium, Poland and even Asia and Africa.
As a producer, her music was picked up by labels such as Second State, Flash, WarinD, Suara, Odd and Gomboc. Obviously, her DJ style is reflected in her productions, making everything effective dancefloor material, but with her personal touch.
BFT Records, Sylvie’s record label has accelerated her schedule in recent times and has quickly found her signature sound. Within a couple of weeks, tracks from her label have been played by top names like Rebekah, Regal and Amelie Lens.
If you’re still reading, you’ll have already noticed that Sylvie Maziarz is one of the standouts of the current scene. An artist who is still carving her own path and who is just beginning to skim the surface of her possibilities. We hope you’ll join her on her journey: it’s going to be fun, promise!
+ UROZ (Moog Club)
Uroz may be a supercool resident DJ at Barcelona’s Moog but he works techno like a Swiss craftsman in search of a clock with a 4/4 time signature and hands that never run slow despite the passing years. There are people we can call a thoroughbred DJs – artists “born to the beat,” who know how to interpret what is happening in every corner of the room and have no doubt about which way to go to keep the audience moving together in the same direction. Uroz is one of these. His techno, distilled through experience and built up strongly by the demanding daily rhythm of working a resident, fits into a panorama that covers all kinds of music: indie, acid house, EBM, post-punk, the other kind of electronica and even the dub version of the B-side of some forgettable record. Because a DJ does not live by techno alone, although the rest of us would happily live off the propositions he keeps in that suitcase of his.
