Dave Tarrida was one of the youngsters who defined British techno (which at the time meant techno for the whole world) in the nineties. His extensive and impressive CV includes names such as the legendary Sativa club; labels like Sativae, Tresor and Missile; and nightlife companions including Neil Landstrumm, Tobias Schmidt, Cristian Vogel and Funk d’Void, all of them impressive and highly rated. But the years go by and lately Dave has been hanging out more with Housemeister, All You Can Beat, Autofake and A Quiet RIOT, among others. At first sight, these are labels and characters are more modest than his old-time companions, but is there any better way of maintaining the rabidly underground, uncompromising attitude that has always characterised Dave Tarrida? In the end, what counts aren’t the names on his CV, but the talent behind the decks possessed by this master of elusive and abrasive techno, now just as it was in the nineties.
